Contract farming – a foreseeable future and rewarding values
With the dense population in Taiwan as well as the rapid urban and rural development of the present day, many rural populations have migrated, leaving farmlands uncultivated. For the past century, Yuanlin Food has rooted and grew strong on this piece of land. Mesona allowed us to pass on from generation to generation; Mesona allowed us to work and live in peace and contentment. For the next century in Yuanlin, we have planted the Mesona that belongs to Yuanlin through the approach of contract with Tongluo, Miaoli in 2017, based on the concept of contributing back to the land what has been taken from the land, which also planted the appreciation from Yuanlin to the land of Taiwan.
Tongluo, Miaoli owns a suitable environment for Mesona, and together with local farmers’ experience towards Mesona planting, farmers’ incomes are stabilized through contracted planting, which also enhanced Mesona’s quality. Moreover, more farmers are allowed to learn, understand and join our project, where through industry-academia collaboration and development, Mesona produced in Miaoli, Tongluo are allowed to become distinguished brands, and it is expected that Mesona can become a characteristic brand crop for Miaoli, Tongluo, thereby encouraging the population that migrated outwards to return to their hometowns for cultivation, warming up farm village development and allowing agriculture to create an alternative prosperity for Taiwan.
